Aģe Grand Oak

Monumental tree of national significance. Protected area 10 m from the tree crown projection on the ground.

Searching and research of poweraoks in Latvia is continuous. Urged by their love for trees, Latvians keep finding new, unseen grand oaks, record-breakers in thickness, leafage, and tallness. Vidriži parish record-breaker is Aģe Grand Oak. Landlord of “Medņi” Kārlis Šmits found and cleaned the oak from bushes in 2005. Aģe Grand Oak grows on the steep bank of Aģe River with part of its roots stretching towards water. Branches of the oak split of the trunk already from the 1.1 m height and expand across Aģe river in all its magnificence. The oak is growing and its leafy crown is in very good condition. The oak is well visible when approaching from „Medņi” to the west by trail across the field. To observe Aģe Grand Oak in all its majesty, go to the other bang of the river across the nearby footbridge.
